Omethoate Risk Assessment Report

The APVMA has released a human health risk assessment report on omethoate the systemic organophosphorus insecticide and acaricide used in horticulture, agriculture and in the home garden.

Better Regulation of Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals

A reminder that the draft legislation to introduce reforms to the existing agricultural and veterinary regulations has been placed on the DAFF website. Some significant changes are proposed in the way in which submissions are reviewed,how fees are structured and identifying chemicals of concern.

2,4-D Review

An ongoing concern with 2,4-D, a systemic post- emergent herbicide for the control of broadleaf and grass weeds, is its potential for off target damage. A review of 2, 4-D is currently underway.

The APVMA Advisory Board provides advice and makes recommendations to the CEO of the APVMA on its various functions.

Applications are now being invited for part-time members to the APVMA Advisory Board .

The APVMA has prepared a Cost Recovery Discussion Paper to invite submissions on the development of the authority’s interim cost recovery arrangements for the period 1 July 2012 until 30 June 2015.

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has released draft legislation governing the way in which the APVMA operates. The legislation and supporting information is available on the DAFF website, with consultation closing on 29 February 2012.
