2,4-D Review
09 February 2012
An ongoing concern with 2,4-D, a systemic post- emergent herbicide for the control of broadleaf and grass weeds, is its potential for off target damage. A review of 2, 4-D is currently underway.
At the end of January a notice was issued continuing the suspension of 2, 4-D high volatile ester (HVE) products.
Because the necessary data for the review has not been provided, the APVMA is considering suspending particular active constituent approvals. This is in relation to the APVMA being able to assess the concern that these HVEs volatilise and persist in the atmosphere. The APVMA have announced that associated product registrations will be considered at a later date.
